RCTC Rolls Past NDSCS 10-0 in Regional Semifinal
Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) delivered a commanding performance in the NJCAA Region XIII Semifinal, shutting out North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) 10-0 on October 22. The Yellowjackets wasted no time asserting their dominance, scoring six goals in the first half and adding four more in the second to secure a spot in the regional final.
Sophomore forward Becca Cook led the offensive onslaught with a career-best six goals and two assists, showcasing her elite finishing and relentless pressure. Cook opened the scoring just 3:30 into the match off a feed from Abigail Stangl and never looked back, netting four goals before halftime and two more early in the second half.
Lilly Farrand also had a standout game, contributing two goals and a game-high three assists. Her pace and vision consistently broke down the NDSCS backline, including a pinpoint assist to Cook in the 29th minute and a composed finish of her own in the 37th minute.
Mariah Rivera Beltran, Madi Meyer, and Farrand rounded out the scoring, while assists came from seven different Yellowjackets, highlighting the team's depth and unselfish play. Midfielders Milayna Zwiener, Sahyra Talamantes, Campbell Cognac, and Emma Scheppmann each added an assist, contributing to RCTC's total.
Defensively, RCTC was impenetrable. Goalkeeper Miley Dostal didn't face a single shot on goal, as the backline, anchored by Madi Meyer and Grace Morrey, completely shut down NDSCS's attack. The Wildcats failed to register a shot or corner kick throughout the match.
RCTC outshot NDSCS 28-0, including 14 shots on goal, and earned eight corner kicks to none for the visitors. NDSCS goalkeeper Riley Hunter made 14 saves but was under constant pressure from the opening whistle.
With the win, RCTC (10-4-1) advances to the Region XIII Championship, riding a wave of momentum and confidence. With a win in the Regional Title Game the Jackets would host the Districts on October 31st and November 1st.
