From the tough Petersen/Cardinal wrestling family down the road in Byron. Matt and his 3 brothers all of which became State Champions. Coach Petersen was also a 2x High School National All-American (Freestyle). After High School he attended school and competed at D2 Mankato State and began his pursuit for Nursing School. Over the last couple of years, he has been a youth and high school coach at his alma mater Byron High School and a lead counselor at David Thorn Wrestling Camps. Matt comes on as the assistant coach: helping lead the day-to-day practices, structure small group workouts as the “lightweight” coach, is an asset as a recruiter.
