RCTC wrestling rolls to MCAC Duals Title with 5-0 record

Willmar, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets kicked of the MCAC Duals with a 54-0 win over MN West and never looked back en route to a perfect 5-0 record and the Duals Championship.  The Jackets finshed 5-0 while Northland and Bismark State each went 3-2, MN North-Itasca and Ridgewater wet 2-3 and MN West was 0-5.

The Jackets won each of their matches in convincing fashion as they downed Itasca 45-11 in round two before beating Northland 53-0.  In their final two matches they beat Bismark 49-6 before rounding out the tournament with a 50-4 win over the host Ridgewater.  RCTC had a combined score of 251-21.

Against MN West the Jackets won 5 matches by fall, including wins by Tyson Wilson, Dylan Enriquez, Cohen Wiste, Dominc Smith, and Citto Tuttle.  RCTC got tech falls from Leighton Robb and Payton Garza, and an 8-2 decision from Leo Tukhlynovych.  In match two against MN North-Itasca the Jackets got wins by fall at 157 from Hunter Gartmann and at 197 from Payton Garza.  The Jackets also got tech falls from Tucker Ginther, Leo Tukhlynovych, and Citto Tuttle to secure the dual win.

In the Jackets third match of the day they earned a 53-0 win over Northland.  Jake Aho and Dylan Enriquez won by fall at 133 and 141 while Leighton Robb and Payton Garza won by fall at 184 and 197. Tyson Wilson earned a tech fall at 125, while Hunter Garmann won by tech fall at 151.  Dominic Smith and Kley Krause both won close decisions to help the Jackets to the win.

Match four saw RCTC take on eventual runner-up Bismark State ad come away wih a 49-6 win.  The Jackets got three wins by fall in the match.  Hunter Gartmann, Kley Krause, and Citto Tuttle all pinned their opponents. RCTC also got three wins by tech fall as Tucker Ginther, Leo Tukhlynovych, and Leighton Robb all had big wins.  

In the Jackets final match of the tournament RCTC downed the hosts of Ridgewater 50-4.  The Jackets got pins at 141 from Tucker Ginther, 165 from Dominic Smith, and 197 from Payton Garza.  Leighton Robb won his bout by tech fall, and Citto Tuttle won by decision to close out the tournament.

 Next up for the Jackets is a trip to Lincoln, Nebraska to take on Southeast CC and Neosho CC on Friday, February 7th.
