
Coon Rapids, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets rebounded from their first conference loss of the season to down the Rams of Anoka-Ramsey 54-40 on Wedesday night. The Jackets got a game high 22 points from sophomore Kara Goetzinger in the win.
RCTC got out of the gates quickly taking a 13-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter the Jackets outscored the Rams 12-11 to take a 25-18 lead into the halftime break. Another big quarter for RCTC broke the game open in third as they Jackets outscored Anoka 21-14 in the frame to lead 46-32 heading to the final period. After both teams could muster only 8 points in the fourth the Jackets walked away with the 14 point win.
Goetzinger was 8-14 from the floor, including 2-2 from the three-point line and 4-4 from the free throw line for 22 points. She also added 8 rebounds and a steal to her stat line. Cassidy Shute had 7 points and 7 boards while Macaya Copeland, Aniyah Reuben, and Allana Bates had 6 points apiece. Bates lead all Jackets with 10 rebounds, while she and Reuben had 4 steals each.
The Jackets shot 37% from the floor and held the Rams to only 26% shooting. Anoka hit only 17% of their three-point attempts (3-18) and were 11-19 from the line. The Jackets ourebounded the Rams 49-32 and had 13 offensive rebounds.
The 14-4 Jackets will play next Wednesday, February 5th at St. Cloud, before returning home on February 12th.
