
Worthington, MN - The #1 ranked RCTC Yellowjacket women picked up a pair of wins against NJCAA Scholarship schools, including avenging an early season loss to NDSCS at the MN West New Years Classic this past week. RCTC downd NDSCS 70-68 in the opener, before defeating Southwestern Community College 77-54 on New Years Eve. The Jackets are now 11-3 on the season heading into Conference play.
Game of the tournament saw the Jackets holding on down the stretch to down the Wildcats of NDSCS 70-68. The two teams had played earlier in the year with NDSCS winning 66-53. RCTC got a game high 22 points from Kara Goetzinger as the sophomore hit on 9-14 shots. Goetzinger also had 8 rebounds and 3 blocks in the game. Macaya Copeland (13) and Nyomi Crushshon (10) each scored in double figures for RCTC. Crushshon added 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block while Copeland had 5 assists. The Jackets shot 40% from the floor while holding the Wildcats to only 32%.
In gam two against against the Spartans of Southwestern CC, Nyomi Crushshon lead the way with 20 points and added 5 assists to pace the Jackets. Makadyn Gust and Allana Bates each added 13 points, while Goetzinger had 10. Bates had a big double-double with a game high 15 rebounds to go along with her 13 points. The Jackets outrebounded the Spartans 55-42 and forced 33 turnovers with 18 steals. Crushon lead all players with 6 steals, while Gust and Aniyah Reuben each had 3.
RCTC will begin conference play on Saturday, January 11th as the host St. Cloud Tech at 1:00pm
