In 2023-24, Chad Schmitz began his coaching career as assistant head coach for the Yellowjackets, contributing to their impressive run to the National Championship Tournament. He was promoted to head coach for the 2024-25 season, bringing a wealth of experience to the role. His coaching journey, spanning back to 2008, encompasses youth, high school, and club levels in both softball and baseball, demonstrating a deep and versatile understanding of the game. His dedication to the sport is evident in his commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Originally from central Minnesota, Schmitz's coaching journey began with his sons' baseball teams and his own participation in softball. Relocating to the Rochester area, he started coaching his daughter in softball, discovering a passion for coaching that quickly blossomed. He actively sought to enhance his knowledge of the game, studying strategy and rules meticulously. To gain a truly comprehensive perspective, he even became an umpire, gaining invaluable insights from both on and off the field. This unique experience provides him with a well-rounded understanding of the game's nuances.

Schmitz's dedication extends beyond the softball field. He is a successful operations manager with an MBA and MHA, showcasing his strong leadership and analytical skills. He resides in Stewartville with his wife, children, and dogs. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors, cooking, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. His balanced life reflects a commitment to family, career, and his passion for coaching, making him a well-rounded and dedicated leader for the Yellowjackets.
