
Rochester, MN - On a cold weekend in Rochester and LaCrosse, the RCTC Yellowjackets and Western Tech Cavaliers played a four game series with Western Tech taking all four games. RCTC is now 8-13 overall while Western Tech is 9-11.
Day one of the four game set saw the two teams scuare off in Rochester with Western Tech winnin 20-1 and 15-10. Game one saw Nate Vaughn pick up the Jackets lone RBI as he went 1-2 in the game. Jerry Fletcher, Connor Mathison, and Bo Boettcher picked up hits as well. Eight Jacket errors proved costly as Western only managed 8 hits in the game.
Game two saw the Jackets jump out to a 1-0 lead on a Teagun Ahrens double that scored Jesus Sosa in the 2nd. The Cavaliers then scored 1 in the 3rd and 8 in the fourth to take a 9-1 lead. RCTC chipped away scoring 4 in the 5th and 3 in the 6th, to trail 10-8 heading into the 7th. Wetern Tech then scored 5 in their half of the 7th with the Jackets managing a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to fall 15-10. Riley Forbes was 3-5 with 2 RBI's abd 2 runs scored, while Vaughn was 1-3 with 4 RBI's and a run scored. Jerry Fletcher was 1-3 witha double, and RBI, and a run scored as well.
Day two saw the series move to LaCrosse's Copeland Field where Western scored 3 in the first and 3 in the second to get out of the gates quickly. After the Cavaliers coed another in the 4th, RCTC scored 3 in the top of the 7th but the comeback fell short as the Jackets dropped game one 7-3. Connor Mathison and Jacob Trusner each picked up RBI's for RCTC with Trusner and Dylan Balazovic each had doubles.
In the final game of the series, Western scored 3 in the 4th, 4 in the 5th, and 5 in the 6th to win 13-4. Owen Vargas was 2-2 with a homerun, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored, while Ramon Teran homered, had 1 RBI, 1 run scored, and walked twice. Connor Mathison picked up the final RBI for the Jackets.
RCTC steps out of coneference play on Wednesday as they host the JV of NCAA DIII Luther College in a single 9 inning game at RBC#4. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00pm. RCTC has a busy non-conference weekend as they will host MN Post Grad in five games over three days on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
