
Rochester, MN - The RCTC baseball team clinched the Southern Division Title by sweeping past Century College in their four-game series. The Jackets are now 11-1 in conference play with only four games remaining. RCTC got a pair of wins on the road Saturday at Century by the scores of 8-3 and 7-6 before returning home on Monday and winning 9-4 and 6-3.
At Century the Jackets got a 7 inning complete game from Rees Campanale to secure the game one win. Campanale allowed 3 runs on 9 hits over 7 innings. Luis Rodriguez led the Jacket offense with a pair of homeruns and and 4 RBI. Owen Vargas and Teagun Ahrens picked up a pair of hits and a double each, while Quinn Larsen picked up a pair of hits.
In game two on Saturday it was Jerry Santiago going 6 innings while allowing only 2 earned runs that paced the Jackets. Campanale, fresh off his pitching win in game one had 2 homeruns and 4 RBI, while Griffin Olson added a homerun as well.
On Monday, the two teams met on the RCTC campus for the final two games of the series. Game one saw Clement Febus pitch 6 stellar innings, allowing only 6 hits and 1 unearned run enroute to the win. Campanale homered again and had 3 RBI's, whie Teagun Ahrens was 2-3 with the RBI's. Campanale, Luis Rodriguez, and Ramon Tehran each had 3 hits in the game. Ahrens had 3 RBI.
In the final game of the series, Connor Jones went 6 innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 runs (only 2 earned) to pick up the win, while Luis Rodriguez earned the save. Augusto Mungarrieta went 2-4 with 3 RBI's to pace the Jacket offense.
RCTC is back in action taking on the JV of Luther College in a non-conference single 9 inning game on Wednesday, May 1st at RBC#4. The Jackets begin theri final conference series on Friday, at home, against Minnesota West.
