Jackets to have new football coach in Fall of 2022

Rochester, MN - The RCTC Yellowjackets will have a new head coach on the sidelines for the 2022 season.  Long-time Yellowjacket Coach Derrick Hintz and the College have mutually agreed to move the program in a new direction for the upcoming season.

RCTC athletic director Mike Lester stated, "I want to thank Coach Hintz for his commitment to the college, our department, and the young men in this program.  He is and always will be passionate about RCTC and its football program, and as he says, "once a Yellowjacket, always a Yellowjacket."

Coach Hintz has spent 19 years with the Yellowjacket Football Program including 5 years as head coach.  During his tenure he coached linebackers, offensive line, was special teams coordinator, and defensive coordinator.  Derrick has had nearly 50 seasons of coaching experience in all levels of competition, including high school and college football as well as high school wrestling and track and field.

In addition to his years as an assistant coach at RCTC, Coach Hintz lead the Jacket program to an 11-1 record in 2011, and followed that up with a 10-1 record in 2012.  In his second stint as head coach (2018-2021), he lead the Jackets to the MCAC playoffs in two of his three years.

The search for a new head football coach will begin immediately.
