Jacket women drop a pair to ranked NJCAA DII schools

Boone, IA - The #1 ranked RCTC Yellowjacket women travelled south to Boone, IA to take on two of the top teams in the NJCAA DII rankings this past weekend.  The jackets fell to host Des Moines Area Community College 85-57 before dropping a 57-48 decision to #2 ranked DII Johnson County Community College.

Against DMACC it was Macaya Copeland all day as the sophomore poured in 32 points on 11-21 shooting, and 10-10 from the free throw line.  Copeland also had 5 rebounds and 4 steals for the Jackets.  Aniyah Reuben added 9 points, while Nyomi Chrushshon and Allana Bates added 4.  The game also marked the return to game action for sophomore Kassidy Shute who was injured near the end of the season last year.  Shute had 6 points and was 2-5 from the three-point line.  RCTC shot a season low 29% from the floor, while DMACC shot 37% and forced 21 Jacket turnovers.

Game two saw the Jackets play #2 ranked Johnson County Community College.  The two teams were tied at 30 at halftime before JCC outscored RCTC 18-9 to take the lead into the fourth by nine.  The nine points proved to be the difference as JCC won by the score of 57-48.   Kara Goetzinger lead the Jackets with 12 points on 6-10 shooting, while Aniyah Reuben added 11.  Jaide Pressley was 3-4 from three-point renage enroute to 9 points.  Macaya Copeland added 7 points while she and Pressley had a team high 6 rebounds. RCTC shot 38% from the floor including 35% from beyond the arc.

RCTC is back in action after the Thanksgiving Holiday as they travel North to take on Central Lakes and Gogebic as part of the MCAC Crossover series December 6th and 7th.
